At USB 2.0 stage, it should be Micro USB.
At USB 3.0 stage, it is both Micro USB and USB-B, on the contrary, USB 3.0 Type B (USB-B) seems not popular in Printers.
Most printer socket keep themselves stayed at USB 2.0 Type B until now.
If your External Hard Drive is still with a USB 3.0 Micro USB Socket, then this cable allows you to connect with a USB-C computer.
